Friday, Oct. 24
The homeschool group's Harvest Party was tonight. The kids had a great time. They were a "green dinosaur" and "Belle." They were so cute! The party was fun -- potato stamping, marshmallows and hotdogs on the fire, face-painting, corn-husk dolls, pumpkin stew (YUM!!) and playing in the leaves. I'm glad we went.



Saturday, Oct. 25:
The Boy had back-to-back soccer games. He did really well. The team is up to a season total of *10* goals (in four games!). They're learning, though. At this age, it's all about fun and learning the rules. The Girl found a little friend and played in the dirt (it looked like she took a dirt BATH).

Tuesday, Oct. 28:
Handwriting practice was first today. The Boy is really resistant, but he persevered!
Lots of outside time today. The days are gorgeous. We worked on our poem and songs.

Wednesday, Oct. 29:
More about the moon and the letter M. We played a "moon phase" memory game with some cards the kids drew and illustrated last week (new, full, crescent, half) and they answered questions about the moon before they got a turn. They also did a worksheet about the letters S and M (the two we've studied) and did a bit of math (number recognition and number groups).

We also looked at a book about the solar system and talked about astronauts going to the moon. Exciting stuff!


We're planning a trip to the local observatory on Friday evening to attend a "star party." That will conclude our "moon" unit, unless the kids get a "learning bug" and want to follow that rabbit trail.
